Happy 2nd Birthday Ethan

Ok, I know it's been SO long since the last post and so much has happend before and after that that I won't even attempt to catch up on but thought I couldn't let it go on any longer so why not start here...

The festivities began with his first salon haircut where he did very well, much better than him screaming and crying the entire time I try to cut it. The jet airplane and private TV made it that much better!

So handsome! He got a sucker for holding still so well.

The day of his birthday we went to play with some of his pals at his friend Graham's house

These are the four babies all born around the same time, Graham, Abbey, Nixon, and of course Ethan.

Ethan is very much into super heros so he was extremely excited when he opened his new Iron Man car and figurine which he plays with everyday because it's so "cool" :)

His buddy Nixon got him a giant Spiderman kite. Can you see how happy he was? We can't wait to test it out.

Grandma got him his own baseball set and something else he's been wanting...big boy underwear! I've been letting him wear them here and there to get used to them and boy does he love the freedom :) No accidents yet, but nothing in the potty either. He's got a while before we start officialy training anyway.

His final birthday cake at Claim Jumpers with the family which by then he didnt really touch because he started getting the stomach flu. That I found out in the middle of the night :p But what a great second year it's been and so much growing up. We love him so much!

So long for now. Hopefully it won't be months before I get a chance to do this again!

Oma's Pumpkin Patch

Last week the kids and I headed out to the pumpkin patch to have some fun and pick out their little pumpkins.

They had a hay bale maze that was really cool for the kids. It was really scary for me because there were sworms of kids going in and out pulling Bella and Ethan in different directions but fortunately we didn't get separated for too long.

Isn't this funny! I barely caught Ethan from sticking his hand in the sheeps butt...that would have been terrible.

Ethan was in dump truck heaven in the giant sand hill that was there, there were trucks for the kids to play with everywhere.

Bella was trying so hard to get "milk" to come out of the fake cows utters, it was so cute.

Isabella had her 3rd birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese's this year. I can't believe how much fun she and all the kids had. It was her and Ethan's first time too so it was really exciting for them. She was so blessed to have her closest buddies come and hang out, not to mention all the wonderful presents she got. It's so cute because she keeps asking to go to there again so she can have another party already:-)

Disneyland

We had such a magical weekend with the kids celebrating Bella's 3rd birthday at Disneyland! It was so fun re-living our childhood through their eyes. Oh and the best part was the day before we went to Disneyland Tim ran into an old boss who works at the Pearl Factory who got us in for F-R-E-E! We were thanking God all day for that wonderful blessing!

Isabella started her Fairy Tale Dance class a couple of weeks ago. It is the most adorable thing seeing all these little girls frolicking around in their leotards and ballet shoes! They'll be going through a few stories and learning dances to them. In January she'll have her first recital...can you believe it?!

Ok, so the cutest thing is that Ethan LOVES and I mean LOVES to sing and play the guitar. There is no doubt that he is musically inclined and will be taking lessons as soon as he is able. Anyway, we like to watch the concerts they have on KPBS and we were doing so the day before we left for vacation when I thought I just had to capture this adorable moment!

Vacation

The last week of August the four of us went on our first family vacation. We drove up the coast and stayed in Santa Barbara 2 nights, stopped in Solvang on the way up to Cambria where we stayed for 3 nights and visited Hearst Castle and Monterey from there. Needless to say with two toddlers it was very busy and there were some breakdowns but the majority of the time we had SO MUCH FUN! The best part for me and Tim was just watching how excited the kids were about experiencing new places.

Bella brought some of her money on vacation in attempts to find a carousel which we thought we wouldn't find but as we were talking about it on our drive back to the hotel we drove right past one and had to go back :-)
The mission was closed when we got there but it didnt stop the kids from trying to get in
Our friends Jason and Tori live in Sata Barbara and we were able to catch up with them for dinner and dessert...yum!

Our lodge in Cambria was so nice, a home away from home with the forest view as our backyard and our own private patio...ahhh I wrapped Ethan up in a blanket and sat with him under the foggy night sky looking at the trees and singing songs, then after I was done with him it was Bella's turn. I'll never forget that special moment with each one :-)

It was over 100 degrees when we were up there so you could only imagine how torturous it was not being able to jump in to these gigantic pools!

Every morning at the lodge the kids would get to pet the kitty on the way to breakfast. Ethan would get so upset when it was time to go of course and throw a fit.
Driving up to Monterey on the 1 we had to stop for a beautiful photo op.

I had the most amazing crab at The Fish Hopper in Monterey, it was so worth it!
This is the BEST aquarium around for kids! They had such a blast and we're so amazed at everything they were able to do and see.

"Stop taking pictures of me!" What should have taken only 6 hours to get home took us 9 with stops and bad traffic. Poor Ethan was at his wits end and couldn't take it anymore :-(

It was so sad when it was time to say good bye :-( BUT we'll definitely be making an effort to see each other more.It was also grandma's birthday so she was here with my sister Marisa too.

Ethan loves to pretend he's driving, even if it's running around the house with a plate pretending it's a steering wheel!

Makayla was doing some shopping so Bella decided to hide in the clothes racks. After I took the picture the sales girl yells "you can't take pictures in here!"...um...ok Bella trying on her new ring lipgloss. It's crazy to think she'll be just as big as her cousin in no time at all.

Ok, I know this is so cliche, but I still remember changing his diapers as a baby...sorry to embarass you Nick :-) He is such a handsome and great young man now and getting ready for his Jr. year of highschool. Makayla is starting her Freshmen year...wow time flies!

Long time no see

I can't believe it's been over a month since the last post! We have been so busy so I'll do my best to catch up :-) Sorry for the overload, but as you can imagine these are just a few of hundreds!

Here we took the kids to the beach in Coronado for the first time this year. Of course they had a blast and the water was just perfect.
We got to babysit our friends 2 mo. old daughter Chloe and as you can see here the kids were so excited to have her over. She was the sweetest and easiest baby ever!

It was Auntie Marisa's 32nd birthday so we celebrated with her requested American flag cake (so patriotic)...

and hung out in Coronado again

The water was a little colder this time but it doesn't stop the kiddos

Isabella made sure she held her auntie's hand the whole time. She loves her so much and always asks when she'll get to see her again. So precious!

This was at the Viejas outlet mall where our playgroup went to play in the spray fountain. This picture is the only one with the kids in there because I went in there with them and went back out when they were'nt looking to take the shot but after that they just stared and watched the big kids play in it.

This past week we had VBS at our church all week. It was a lot of work but such a blast, I can't wait until next year! This is a shot of Bella with some of her little preschool buddies. It was her first official year and it was SOOO cute watching her learn with her friends. She had a wonderful time every day and talked about everything she learned ever night.

This is me with my amazing group of 7-9yr olds. We were all girls so it was twice the fun. They were all so wonderful and we were sad to say goodbye when the week was over. All of them were asking me if I could be there teacher again next year...hopefully
Is this cute or what? I loved watching the little ones rock out to the worship songs!

Of course Ethan was all the rave with the girls and whenever he wasnt in the nursery you could find him by the swarm of kids around him :-)

Ta ta for now and hopefully we'll get something up here sooner. We're still trying to sell our house too and hopefully it does soon becuase it's madness trying to keep a place ship shape with little ones around! All in God's time though :-)

Father's Day

We went sailing on a 25ft boat in Coronado for Fathers day. It was SO beautiful and relaxing! We haven't gone in almost 3.5years. The kids were so excited to go because that's all we talked about the week before. Sailing is in their blood for sure!

Our wonderful friends Chris & Heidi also went with us for Chris' first timesailing, and fortunately he didn't get sick :-)

All Ethan could say was "doat" over and over again once he saw the boats and couldn't wait to get on. This life jacket bothered him the whole time so with that and being a little sleepy he wasn't a happy sailor but he made it :-)

We were having fun with water balloons a couple of weeks ago. It was hillarious becasue Ethan was just walking around sucking on them.

"The hills are alive...with the sound of music!" I love how excited the kids get when they go to the park to explore and play.

Litte Mr. up to no good look :-) This one definitley keeps me running around all day! Sure would be nice if he took two naps a day like all of my other friends babies...but then again I would miss him too much.

What we've been up to...

too many things to post here but thought it was time to try and squeeze in some current events :-)

We went swimming for the first time this year (a couple of weeks ago). Isabella said "this is the BEST day EVER mommy!" How cute is that? Ethan on the other hand was a little weary of nothing being under him and had to hold onto me the whole time.

Tira and Nixon joined us for some fun in the pool too

We went to the park with Caleb and his mommy Kim. Although around 6 months younger than Ethan, Caleb is quickly catching up in stature!
It's so crazy that he is such a big little boy now. Where did the baby go so fast?!

Rockin' like it's hot!

The kids loved painting a masterpiece together. It's so cute now that they do so much more together like playing with playdough, playing at the park, collecting things, tickling each other, coloring, hide 'n seek, etc... We did a lot more but the camera can't come out everytime, especially since these two kiddos keep me on my feet running around all over the place.

Isn't she such a big girl now. Time goes by way too fast, but it's so special watching them grow and experience new things in life.

A couple of weeks ago we went out to dinner with our friends John&Gert and then wen't to their house for a game. The kids had such a blast playing with their dog. This was a shot I thought was so cute especiall with Ethan poking his face in the picture :-)
Anybody who knows me knows that I have to have my monthly fix of Oreo's which I single handedly seem to devour on my own. Today I found these new limited addition ones at Target and had to try them since I love strawberry milkshakes too. OH MY GOSH! They are so good and creamier than normal! They practically melt in your mouth :-) mmm...mmm
p.s. we're trying to fix up our house to sell on top of our usual busy selves but I'll try to keep up on the postings when I can

The "boss" of the bunch had her first birthday this weekend. It was so cute watching Abbey lick the icing off the cake! Aren't her little pig tails adorable?

Bella played with her little friend Antonia for the last time this week, sadly she is moving away. Bella picked a flower for her, then gave her a big hug before we said goodbye. They'll miss each other for sure :-(
Our friend Leah had her baby on April fools, but there's no kidding how adorable her little boy is! She did awesome and looks as beautiful as ever too :-) Can't wait to spoil him!

San Francisco

Tim and I had such a wonderful 3 day get away together. We hadn't done anything like that in about 4 years! It was so nice and much needed for our marriage :-) Grandma stayed and watched the kids for us and of course they loved it.

We felt so old after walking up and down the steep hills for 3 days, our legs were so sore!

We got some starbucks and relaxed on a bench before we had to head to the BART(subway) and back to the airport There were retired Chinese men play cards for money all over the park, it was so fun watching them laugh and have a good time together

On Saturday, we took Isabella to Java Mama Cafe for a little pre-Easter fun. It was so cute! Bella got to make a project, have some tea and snacks, meet the Easter bunny and hunt for eggs. She had such a good time with all the other kids. What a big girl she is already!

Hooray! Ethan had his first birthday party Saturday night. It was so much fun celebrating with all of our closest friends and family! He was so blessed and happy to be around everyone...after he got over his nap time crankiness :-). Thank you so much to everyone for taking time out of your day to celebrate with us and for all of the wonderful gifts too! March 6th

Well, a year ago today our little Ethan joined our family. He has brought us so many smiles and laughs, and yes let's not forget the tears, however we do quickly forget that as soon as we get a glimpse of his precious cheeky grin :-) At birth he was 7lb6oz 21.5 in., and now he is 25lb 30.3 in! He's come a long way for sure. His poor mouth has suffered a great deal as he now has 16 teeth! Just this past weekend he started officially walking too, it's such a cute sight watching him waddle around the house. We're so proud of our little boy and so thankful to God for blessing us with him!

Today we went to playgroup at AirTime to start off our celebrations...and of course they had an absolute blast!

Ethan's birthday party is this Saturday so I'll be sure to post some photos of that afterwards.

What Are Girlfriends For?

This Tuesday night some of my closest friends and I suprised our friend Amber for her 28th birthday by bindfolding her then taking her to Extraordinary Desserts. We had so much fun laughing and catching up all night and of course eating all of the delicious dessert! I failed to get a shot of her without the blindfold but you can see her on her blog if you'd like.

New Accomplishments

This little girl has been such a big help to mama lately! She wants to help with everything and feels so good with all the praise she gets. When it comes to dusting, sweeping, doing dishes, doing laundry, cooking, and baking...she's there!

Here she is helping me make a batch of oatmeal cookies last week. She mixed almost all of the ingredients herself and didn't waste any time eating up her creation when it was done :-)

Here she is washing dishes for the first time. Of course she was so soaked and so was the floor, but she had a good time "helping" mommy

Tonight I stopped by Office Depot to pick up some toddler pencils so she can practice writing easier. She loves to draw now, so the first thing she drew with her new pencils was a spider. Isn't it cute? Look at all those legs and the two little eyes.

Nixon just turned 1 this weekend! I had to borrow a pic from his mommy's blog to post here because both of us were not feeling well and forgot to take pictures. It was so fun and cute to watch him dig into his little cupcake and stuff it in his mouth! :-)

Valentines Weekend - no kids

We had such a great time this weekend re-kindling our romance :-) We stayed the night in Dana Point and relaxed in our own jacuzzi tub...ahhh so rejuvinating! The next day we stopped along Laguna Beach to walk on the beach and browse the shops...oh and of course get our Starbucks fix. Then we drove along the coast through Newport Beach and finally Huntington Beach for lunch. Yes, we LOVE the sea! It was so nice enjoying our time together without having to run after our little rascals, although we sure missed them...next time they're coming too!

Weekend in the desert

This weekend we went to see Roxanna's cousin Bernadette and husband Jim who just had a baby, Zachary, in January. He is already a month old and growing so fast! We went to the Living Desert in Palm Desert to enjoy the crisp cool air and see some animals.

A family now, ahh...aren't they cute!

Bella just loved that he was little enough to hold and feed. She was so mezmerized by his little fingers and sleeping smiles.The Starbucks addiction starts so young these days :-)...no, we didn't really let him drink it!

sidenote: we have the song Rainbow Connection on our blog sung by Kermit the Frog...well, on one of our many days of dancing around together, Bella's face lit up as she heard it start playing and sentimentally said "papa!" and she started saying hi to him...she thought Kermit's voice sounded like Tim's and was so happy he was singing to her! I just thought that was so cute and hillarious :-)

Every week Isabella looks foward to our next play group meeting where she can play with all of her friends. Today we went to MyKidsClubhouse where they had a blast!

Getting ready for their road trip and of course the guys in control of the wheel :-)
Afterwards we stopped by daddy's work to say hi to everyone and eat some lunch. Bella was so excited to go to GEICO and see the gecko. As we were walking, we found a poster of him in the hall and she didn't hesitate to stop for a picture with him.

It was past 2 when we got home but both kids would not take a nap. So I let them play downstairs for a bit and I was finally able to put my feet up for a minute. Then both come mosying over to me covered in marker!!!! Apparently Bella had hidden one of her markers in her toy basket and that's why they were playing so well together :-)

Talking Baby

So, Ethan is 10 months old now and over the past month he's started saying some words here and there. He says hot, bear, oh...what's that, and mama but we always forget to get the camera out to record it. Today I got him saying brush for the first time...yes it's a comb, but when I asked him to brush my hair, brush is what stuck with him. It's just so funny hearing a baby say words and so clearly that I had to share...and I'm a little proud of him too :-)

Come and Gone

So quickly has Christmas come and gone yet again. We had such a wonderful time with Roxanna's mom and sister with us for the week. Tim's brother Brent and wife Tanya also stopped in from Vegas for a visit too...sorry no pics of them :-( but we had a wonderful time catching up! The children we're SO blessed and have been diligently at work on all thier new toys.

Our attempt at our own family photo as we didn't get to do professional ones this year...hopefully next...had some fun with effects on these

Here is Isabella's first gingerbread house, helping her credits go to everyone else in the house too :-)We thought this was so adorable. Poor Ethan was so confused as to why we suddenly were allowing him to rip into the presents we kept telling him not to for a month!

We went to such a great Christmas party this weekend. Everyone at the party brought a gift for an adopted family in need instead of doing an elephant exchange. After dinner, we gathered all the kids in one room and then Santa Claus came down stairs. There was so much excitement when the kids heard him coming, it was adorable! All the kids got to sit on his lap and he gave them presents. (we forgot our camera so these are courtesy of someone else)

Isabella was excited at first until she sat on his lap at which point she totally clammed up...that is, until he gave her some presents.

Ethan wasn't scared at all, he was just curious about Santa's beard.

My best friends came over to watch the kids so Tim could take me out for my birthday. We went to the Prado Restaurant in Balboa Park for a romantic evening. It was so nice having some "adult" time as ours now generally consists of kid friendly activities. Tim really spoiled me this year with a wonderful night and gifts! Cappucino's along with live musicians in the background playing the accordian and guitar made us feel like we were in a French bistro in ParisGuess we could have had the waiter take our pic but we thought we'd be old school and do it ourselves :-p

Halloween

Hey everyone, sorry we haven't posted in a while but here's what we've been up to...

Bella helped mommy carve a pumpkin, it was the first time for both of them.

All of our friends got together and we took the kids up to a pumpking patch, they were all so cute

We went to a costume party where Rox and Bella were both lady bugs

Tim was a spider web and Ethan was the spider, you can only imagine how cute it was watching little Ethan crawling around looking like a real giant spider!
It was really hard getting all the kids to sit still for a picture, but they all still look so cute...the theme was BUGS in case you haven't figured that out already :-)

Long time no see

Grandpa Art & Grandma Irene came to visit last week. The kids had such a wonderful time bonding and getting to know them, and of course they got spoiled with attention and gifts. This was their first time seeing Ethan and Bella was 11 months the last time they saw her. We had a great time catching up with them too and enjoyed a fabulous dinner at the famous Onami's Seafood...an Owen family tradition.

Ohio to San Diego

Tim's uncle Fred and aunt Claudia came to visit for a little bit this week and we had such a great time hanging out and catching up after not seeing each other since last year when Roxanna was 4 months pregnant with Ethan.

Ethan's almost catching up to big sister. They are really starting to love playing together.

This little guy just keeps us cracking up as he learns to slither accross the floor faster and faster. We're excited though because yesterday he finally started crawling on hands and knees.

He's 6 months now, has 6 teeth and just learned how to crawl...he's our little 20lb chunky monkey :-) When he laughs the whole room lights up! We're so thankful for our new addition.

We finally started working on our family site.Hopefully we'll stay on top of updating it with photos, current events, and new stuff that the kids are up to. It's so hard to stay in touch with everyone especially as snail mail is so old school and finding time to pick up the phone is more work than it seems. Looking forward to connecting better in this modern world!
